The test was actually easier than I thought. Although my score was not what I would like it to be for the AP test (obviously), doing that practise made me feel a lot better about the test itself. It doesn't all seem so ominous anymore. Some of the questions I encountered were difficult because I didn't know the terms. For example, I didn't know some of the literary techniques which, were options for one of the questions and I also had no idea there was such a things as Iambic trimeter. The university I would like to attend in the US requires a 4 or a 5 of the AP test for it to be recognised as college credit and as far as I know my university in New Zealand has no clue what the AP test is.

The hardest part in the test for me was overcoming the old-fashioned language in some of the texts. To me, it is much easier to understand the questions and what they are asking when the book is contemporary (ex. BMU vs. these prompts). It was hard to make any conclusions about the theme or the plot of the poems it gave me because I couldn't understand most of them. Another difficult part in the test was the questions about the poem's meter, but I'm sure we will learn about it in class. Overall, I was surprised with my score because I didn't do as bad as I was expecting.

Insofar as difficulty goes, I found the multiple choice test to more or less what I expected, by which I mean it was moderately challenging (I got about 75% of the questions correct), but predictably so. It certainly was similar in structure to the multiple choice section of last year's test, albeit with more questions on literary devices. Because of this, I can rest easy with my performance, since I don't expect to know everything I need for the test this early in the year; I knew a comparable amount in regards to AP Composition material at this time last year, and ended up passing the test with flying colors.

Also, in regards to the questions themselves, although I was fully prepared to see one rather archaic text (I was given an excerpt from a Shakespeare play), I still scored significantly worse, on that one than the more modern piece, all while spending much more time trying to comprehend it. Even though it's far from fun to do so, I definitely feel we should spend more in-class time looking at and analyzing older works, perhaps with accompanying AP-style multiple choice questions.

Regarding difficulty, I expected these questions to be challenging, and they were, really. I did not do nearly as well as I thought I would. I think this is because I have a tendency to justify the "made-ya-look" distracting question to myself, especially when it is close between two answers that are similar. One example, when asking about the tone of a paragraph, was "scathing and bitter" vs. "victimized and vengeful." Pretty close, huh? I'm not sure how to improve or avoid this, but hopefully with tie and practice, it will happen.

I thought the test was moderately hard. It was hard to read the old fashioned language. I also had to read a Jane Eyre excerpt that was difficult to read. There were some literary devices that I had not heard of which made it difficult.

I did exactly as I thought I would do- terribly. Whether it's the "It's Sunday morning at 1am" reason or the "I bomb every standard test that I ever take" reason, I just did absolutely horrible.

The test was as difficult as I had imagined it would be. A couple of the literary devices were not as clear to me because of their older diction. Also, I have only briefly went over a few modes of poetry, such as iambic pentameter, and there were many modes I did not know. Certain questions that I had to go with my gut on I got correct, though, which is odd because others that I was more confident about I sometimes got incorrect.

I did better than I was expecting to and feel confident about doing well on the AP test. At times, I struggled with understanding the passage's antiquated language and some of the complex words that were used in both the passage and the questions. Strangely enough, I found it harder to discern what the theme was in the poem I read, which was much more modern that the other archaic excerpt. It was ambiguous at times and I wasn't sure how to interpret parts of it. Likewise, there was a question or two about poems that required knowledge of poem terms that I was unaware of. As far as the colleges I applied to, most require a 4, which shouldn't be too much trouble.

The test wasn't as hard as I thought and going back through the questions they were mostly answers when I was between 2 and picked the wrong one. At MSU a 3 allows you to waive the English 150 but you need a 4 or 5 to get out of English 150

I found it rather difficult when reading the old fashion English. Which in return made it harder to answere the questions. However, I believed, even though a scored low, it was great practice for future texts I may come across on tests if just the books or poems we read in poems. Also I became stumped on the vocabulary in some of the texts and had to either figure them out the best I could or give a wild guess.

Surprisingly, I did a lot better than I thought I would, but I still thought it was kind of difficult. Whenever I had gotten a question wrong I was usually torn between the correct answer and a “distractor”. I struggled with some of the poetic lit devices and at times, I found it difficult to understand the tone of the some of the texts.

After taking the test I felt that I shouldn't have thought that i could walk out of it the way I did. I was slightly disappointed at first but I realized that certain areas that had somehow subsided from my initial understanding at the beginning of the year are improving and seeing these results are getting me excited to see my improvements at the end of the school year and apply them to college later in life.

Well, the passages definitely reminded me of the ACT reading test - a very complicated, confusing ACT reading test. All the questions were rhetorical, which takes substantial amount of thought in coming up with the correct answer. Having said this, time is going to be my main concern. As the exam gives only 60 minutes to the multiple choice section.

The test were challenging, as I thought they would be, and were even more challenging than I thought they would be once I found out my score. My scores were not where I wanted them to be, and I hope to work on that. The biggest difficulty I have is trying to understand the underlying meaning, or what the author figuratively says rather than literally says. Another downfall I have is my speed. The college I am looking at requires a 3 or higher to receive credit.

The test was difficult, but I expected it to be. I did not score as high as I would like to on the AP test, but I realize that there is plenty of time to practice and cover the material on the multiple choice portion of the test. Therefore, I am not too discouraged by my score.

After numerous technical difficulties and distractions, I completed the passages and their questions, finishing with a score that was fairly similar to what I expected to receive. I would say I need to familiarize more with the older passages (Shakespearean interpretations, 18th Century and later) because I struggled with those the most- apparently that is a common theme, though.

I struggled a little bit with the old fashioned english language. My score was not that bad i guess. It was better than i thought it would be being that ive never been in an advanced english class before. I think these practices will be a major aid in preparing for the AP test.

I did find some of the Lit devices some what hard to uncover but I did better on the test than I thought I would do. Though this was just a 25 question test, it made me feel better about taking the actual AP test and helped me to see where my skill level was at. However, im still worried about the timed portion, with this I could take my time and wasn't stressed over a limited time factor, but on the AP test I know it will effect me.

I did a lot better than I thought I would, but it still wasn't great. I definitely struggled with the type of language in some of the texts. I do feel more confident with the test now, especially with taking practice tests and not doing absolutely horrible. Some of the lit devices were kinda hard to understand.

I found the questions easy to answer, though it did take awhile to read and I think that was because of the old English, which is not my strong suit, but I tried to read the questions first and then read the passage but I found that it took me longer to do the section than if I would have read the passage and then read the questions. Overall I did rather well and it surprised me.

I thought the test was a bit more difficult than I first anticipated. My strongest skill is essay writing, so I would like to go over narrowing down answers on multiple choice more in class. I feel we did not practice this skill enough last year. Also, if I receive a 4 or a 5 on the AP Literature and Composition test, I will be rewarded with 4 finished credits of General English at Oakland.
